Hello and welcome, finally the third part in out 6 part series is only 2 months late! In this part we go though the infamous Underworld tribe, provide general background information, and then go into detail about the tribe strategy wise, brisk though a few key cards and finally end with a few deck strategies. So, stick around, and enjoy, A study of Perim: Part 3 UnderWorlders.
The UnderWorlders are, more or less, the bad guys. Physically they are (generally) like demonic gargoyles. They fight “dirty,” with fiery, oily, steamy, toxic, burning Attacks. Some can also use Earth, Water and/or Air Element Attacks. UnderWorlders live below the OverWorld in an equally vast and varied subterranean world. Chaor is the UnderWorld leader. -taken from Chaotiki
The UnderWorlders are in almost all respects, opposites of the OverWorld tribe. They have a very aggressive and straight forward way of fighting, ignoring everything with the goal of defeating an opponent at all costs. This is represented in their very high stats, intimidate ability (reducing an opponent’s stats) and very offensive Mugic. Likewise UnderWorld creatures have almost no mugic users at all, they only have the fire element (with a few exceptions), and generally have low wisdom, with most also having low speed. Furthermore most UnderWorlders have very high energy, to offset this most UnderWorlders also have recklessness. Lastly UnderWorlders also have the most amount of scout type creatures (creatures with swiftness and range) able to “jump” around the battlefield taking down weaker mugicians, followed by a frontal assault by tougher creatures to pincer and overwhelm an opposing army.
In all these respects, an UnderWorld creature is the perfect front line of defense, with amazing stats and energy they can easily trap another creature and overpower them. This means that they are preferable in smaller armies such as 1v1s or 3v3s, when mugic is not as powerful or as viable. But in larger armies, they can be quickly downed by a well placed mugic, or swarmed by weaker cards until you eventually run out of useful attacks.
The UnderWorlders’s mugic selection consists of all offensive based mugic, such as Canon of Casualty and Melody of malady. They also have one of the best discipline reducing mugix, the song of treachery which reduces all disciplines of a chosen creature by 15, further allowing them to strike with strong discipline based attacks. Lastly a few mugic cards gives creatures element:X such as Song of fury, this enables creatures like Magmon or Bareth Beyond to deal massive amounts of damage with the simplest fire attacks.
Notable UnderWorld Creatures:
Grook:
The strongest non super rare card, Grook brings plenty of muscle into battle. Sporting a base Power of 110, he can even overpower a Chaor in terms of strength. Accompanied by intimidate: power, the fire element, and good energy, Grook is a fearsome foe and a trusted ally. His few downsides is his low courage and wisdom, but it doesn’t hurt him quite so much as to be notable. Being an Uncommon also helps in finding one with good stats.
Kughar:
In my opinion, the best common card in the game is Kughar. This beast sports good potential in Courage, very high Power, moderate speed, and amazing energy, coupled with the classic Intimidate: power, and tying off ends with the UW staple fire element. Kughar is amazing in that he boasts a possible, C75 P95 with good energy (throw on an elixir of tenacity to boost those numbers way up) meaning that he can overpower most super rare cards in terms of courage and power. Even being able to overpower Maxxors and some Chaors, him being a common means that its fairly easy to get one, and theres no real reason not to use him in a mono UnderWorld army with his only downside being average speed, low wisdom, and no mugic counters.
Magmon:
Infamously known for being able to deal 30 plus damage every turn while he’s in the lavaponds with any fire attack. He is the literal embodiment of fire, and one of the best Elementalists in the entire game. What makes him unique and ultimately better than most other Elementalists is that he actually has good stats (most elementalist’s stats max at only 60 or so) while Magmon has the potential to hit C85, P70, and E60. His other defining aspect is that he has a location custom made for him, while hes in the lavaponds his fire attacks deal an extra 10 damage (as opposed to other creatures only dealing an extra 5). Also he boasts a mugic counter, a rare addition in most UnderWorlders. Magmon is not without fault however, he suffers from recklessness and the UW curse of low wisdom and speed.
Skreeth:
Arguably the best scout in the game, Skreeth is a scout type creature that has very good stats (since most other creatures either have lackluster discipline scores or very low energy). Boasting a possible C90, P75, and W70 coupled with high energy easily makes him a very great Disciplineer/Scout hybrid card. Only faltering in speed and the fact that he has no element. Skreeth is an able addition to any discipline deck that may need a scout as well, a great hybrid card that works well in most decks, since he avoids the weakest parts of his underworld heritage (recklessness, weak wisdom) and is able to rise above his card class in terms of discipline.
UnderWorld Strategies
Since most UnderWorld traits consists of high energy, high discipline, fire element, and no mugic, it’s a simple plan to just stock up disciplineer only creatures and rushing your opponents, possibly with skeletal steeds to take down mugicians quickly and delaying mugic damage with such locations as Wooden pillar and Stone pillar. Another idea would try burstable damage with mugic like Canon of Casualty, creatures such as Ulmar, or battlegear like a nexus fuse. Easily blowing up any creatures that provide a threat or sniping mugicians with double canons (since most mugic can target any creature).
Other plausible strats is to use the elementalists of the UnderWorld such as Magmon and Bareth beyond in a Fire deck, using such cards as Hearring or song of futuresight to get a lavapond then quickly sweeping any opposing creature before recklessness takes its tole on your creatures.
Creating an UnderWorld deck:
Since most UnderWorld creatures are very similar in stats and abilities, you can have just about any combination of UnderWorlders in a mono UW deck and make it work fairly well. In this one let’s try to create one with a strong front line and with scouts, while avoiding having to rely on mugic while disallowing our opponent to use his mugic against us.
This deck will focus around the courage and power disciplines, with a minor in fire. We’ll also stock cards that help us burst damage to take down opponents as fast and efficiently as possible.
Creatures:
Kughar @ Elixir of tenacity
Banshor @ ring of Naarin/ pyroblaster
Skreeth @ Skeletal steed
Klasp @ Stonemail/ elixir of tenacity
Ulmar @ mugician’s lyre
Drakness @ nexus fuse
Our army will be set up as so:
As you note, almost all our creatures are disiplineers or creatures with damage dealing abilities (in Drakness’s case it increases damage from mugic sources).
Attacks:
Ash torrent x2
Emberswarm x2
Evaporize x2
Flame orb x2
Flashwarp x2
Incinerase x2
Power pulse x2
Shadow strike x2
Skeletal strike x2
Squeeze play x1
Viperlash x1
This attack deck focus’s directly on courage, power, and fire. Towards the end I decided add a Viperlash for a quick and easy 15 base damage. It’s a straight forward attack deck that has a lot of 2 BP cards and 0 BP cards. Incinerase is useful since it deals 10 damage, and losing the fire element isn’t as bad in this deck as we only have 5 other fire attacks.
Mugic:
Canon of Casualty x2
Melody of malady
Song of fury
Discord of disarming
Song of treachery
Pretty basic build, we burst with buffed canons for 25 a pop, melody of malady to heal and damage, fury if we happen to have a lot of fire attacks, the discord to burst when an opponent sacrifices their battlegear (bursting upon their sacing it, so our discord comes first meaning that their battlegear never activates, useful against mugician’s lyre, nexus fuse, etc.) and lastly Song of treachery if an opponent is overpowering us in a discipline.
Locations:
Eye of the maelstrom x2
Fear valley x1
Forest of life x1
Runic grove x1
Stone pillar x1
Underworld city x1
Underworld coliseum x2
Wooden pillar x1
Basically a mugic shut down based location deck, with some buffs in the form of fear valley, forest of life, UW city and coliseum.

Skeletal steed on skreeth is a waste, he already has range, and +swift 1 he’d just get plus swift 2, I’d go with a windstrider so he gets swif+3 or a Pyroblaster for that element boost he needs
But Skeletal Steed is uncommon, and therefore fairly easy to find, whereas Pryoblaster is Rare and WIndsrider is Super Rare. So a Skeletal Steed is more practical.

Anonymous. i give your deck a fairly good. it doesn’t fit my style but if you like it then good for you. i have to say i dont like the constant repetition. it makes you more predictable and therefore easier for an opponent to figure out a counter measure. but i must admit good power overall. I personally prefer Mipedians and 4 tribe decks.
ay anonymous you can only have two copys of one card unless its unique
so your deck is illegal
