Doing what Chaotic does best…

If its one thing that Chaotic is notoriously known for its delays. Before the game was finally released, it had already been delayed a full year after its release. The actual release date was delayed further a day, and the pad wasn’t available until the following weekend.  The list goes on and on throughout Chaotic’s history, and it dosen’t seem as if it’ll change anytime soon…

Anyhow the official release of the Chaotic pad has been pushed all the way back to April 16th, which is about 2 months away… I’m not sure how I feel about this, in one way it does help to refine the chaotic online experience and the far away date means that they won’t just string us along with a lot of small delays (such as when they added mugic). The promise of reducing Chaotic’s requirements should be a great plus to getting more peopl e on the pad, but otherwise this delay seems somewhat pointless, a chat room system is nice but not necessary, I’d much rather have 6v6 combat or improvements to the forums and chaotic pad. Anyhow I at least hope that they use these two months well and seriously dish out a good product. The entire post about this news can be read below

Chaotic|Seer’s Vision

Greetings! I am Chaotic|Seer, the latest addition to the Chaotic® Community. I am a Game Developer working on Chaotic, and my role within the community is to provide information about the future of the game. You will not see me post very often around here, but I promise that when I do – it will be important.

With that in mind, I have some exciting announcements about the future of Chaotic. As I am sure you already know, we have decided to extend the Beta. What you may not know is that we have extended it to April 16th. Thanks to this extension, we will be able to add a number of features and improve the overall polish of Chaotic. Here are some of the features you can look forward to:

3/19 – Lobby Chat

We will be introducing a Lobby Chat system to the Chaotic Pad, adding an exciting new way to communicate with other members of the community. Once you have logged into the pad, you will be able to chat in limited scale chatrooms. This means that there will be a limited number of people allowed in each chatroom, but users will be able to create their own password protected chatrooms if they so choose (only one chatroom per customer ).

All chat will be moderated by Chaotic Staff, which means that this functionality will only be available during certain times of the day. Eventually we will allow you to add other users to a buddy list and chat with them during any times you wish, though not with the initial release. We will also add the ability to challenge people directly from the Chat Lobby, though again this will not be included in the initial release. Ultimately, we would like players to use the Chat Lobby to get a feel for what is going on with Chaotic at that time. We want you to be able to get information about other players like ELO and Rank, and also to be able to see who is playing who. With the initial release, you will still be able to do things like enter the auto-queue and see your own Rank and ELO.

3/19 – Non-DirectX Version

Yes! For our users who do not have Shader 1.1 capable Graphics Cards or computers which run DirectX, we will be offering a very basic version of our Chaotic Game client which will allow them to experience Chaotic online.

4/16 – End of Beta

The End of Beta will signify a couple of different things. You can expect most of our major features to be implemented in at least a limited form, though of course we will strive to improve and update the game moving forward. End of Beta will also include the release of Zenith of the Hive online! Of course, as soon as you purchase your Zenith of the Hive™ cards you will be able to play them offline and register them on ChaoticGame.com!

In the coming weeks we will also be revealing our End of Beta reward cards! These cards have been made specifically for our Beta players as our way of thanking you not just for playing our game and making it possible, but also for helping us improve it. These virtual cards are a one time deal and will only ever be available to those of you who have participated in the Beta process. These will be given on the last day of Beta.

•Lobby Chat: Lobby Chat will include the ability to chat with other users and create password protected chatrooms. All chat will be moderated, and this feature will be offered only during certain times of the day (we will release more information about this as we get closer to the release date).
•Non-DirectX Version of the Client: this will allow users who do not have DirectX or Shader 1.1 enabled computers to play Chaotic online.
•Release of Zenith of the Hive to hobby stores: players will be able to upload their Zenith of the Hive cards and view them in their collection.

•End of Beta!
•Release of Zenith of the Hive online.

Coming:

•Improved Lobby Chat features such as:
oThe ability to challenge players within the lobby.
oThe ability to see who is playing who.
oPlayers will be able to look at each others ELO scores and Rankings.
oBuddy list: players will be able to add one another as buddies, and be able to chat with people on it at any time.
•6v6: Is still coming! We have decided that improving 3v3 is our top priority for now, but we still intend to add 6v6 to the game. The timing depends on the road bumps we hit along the way.

A Note about the Schedule

Some players may notice that we are no longer planning out a weekly release schedule. We have upgraded our server technology so that we can now improve the game without downtime in most cases. So while we will still be improving the game, you won’t be experiencing the downtime as often. In the case of larger updates, such as the one we will have on March 19th, we will still need to take the servers down.
