Good evening everyone and welcome to the second installment of the Zenith Review, this time I’ll delve into the new OW and Mipedian creatures and mugix. For each card I’ll state my personal opinion followed by ranksings in three categories individual which measure the creatures personal usefulness, practicality which represents how well a creature works in union to the rest of the deck, and flexibility which is determined by how well a creature can do in many different tasks or strategies.
OverWorlders
The new OverWorld creatures mostly enhance the mugic aspect of the OverWorld with about half of the new creatures being muges. The others enhance the OverWorld aspect of teamwork with such cards like Aggroar that aid in defending and standing in for their fellow teammates. Also just about every Zenith OW creature has some sort of unique ability, such as with Lomma (which reduces damage on the first turn) and Garv which can switch the position of battlegear. Mugic wise the OW have gained a lot of stat increasing and healing mugic further making them into a stall or defensive tribe. Overall the new Zenith Overworlders are very interesting, now with creatures that excell out of combat and mugix to protect them if they do it’ll be interesting to see how OW strategies will develop from these additions.
Aggroar
Not only is Aggroar one of the coolest looking creatures ever, he also bestows the all new Defender ability to all of his strategist allies (strategist includes Najarin, Psimion, Tangeth Toborn, Vidav, Hoton, Aggroar). Aggroar works great as a supporter creature but he fails as an individual creature. He has very low stats (all averaging roughly 50) as well as having no mugic counters means that he probably won’t fare well in battle. He is common (the only OW Zoth card to be common actually) so finding him won’t be a problem and since his ability affects a lot of creatures he does provide some use.
Individual: 4.5
Practicality: 7
Flexibility: 7.5
Garv
In my opinion Garv is one of the best OW Zoth cards to be released, hes got fair stats (not great but very good considering being very “muge” esque), surprisingly amazing energy especially for an OW, two mugic counters, and an kickin awesome ability. Garv’s ability is simply awe inspiring, think if you will.. an opponent show up with a whepcrack on his bareth beyond, with Garv that whepcrack is useless for the entire round! Not to mention that you can flip your own battlegear over, truely one of the best gems to come out of Zenith.

Practicality: 9
Flexibility: 9.5
Hune Marquard
Hune marquad is quite possibly one of the best muges of all of ZOTH boasting one of the coolest ability ever. His ability allows him to reach freakishly high amounts of mugic counters when facing a danian tribe, throw in all the new muge and meek cards to compensate for his meager stats and he should be a great supporter creature. Especially as a lot of new creatures such as Arkanin can use the mugic counters of other creatures, making Hune marquad the ultimate mugical battery. Lastly he is uncommon so hes easily acquirable which is always great.
Individual: 5
Practicality: 7
Flexibility: 8
Lomma
Joining Blugon and Intress in the ranks of OW water elementalists is Lomma, a new female antelope like creature. As always with elementalists, Lomma has very low stats with most maxing at 60, however her abilities more than make up for her meek stats. Firstly she has an awesome ability that reduces the first strike against her by 10 meaning that her 40 scanned energy won’t be too much of a problem. To compensate for her low stats is her amazing water attacks boasting a water: 5 and the ability of defender which is always welcome. Lastly she has a mugic counter to finish up her repertoire. Overall a really nice and dependable creature that can also provide team support with mugic and defener.

Raznus
One of the best multi-tribe muges out there, Raznus allows your Danian creatures to cast OverWorld mugic, which means that a Lore is able to throw out song of resurgences or momental virtuosity. With this Danian decks gain the entire library of OW mugic which really bolsters their already amazing defense and it should keep their mandiblors alive and kicking. An amazing creature if your wishing to run OW and Danian, or simply if you want your Danian creatures to have a little splash of OW mugic.
Individual: 4
Practicality: 7
Flexibility: 9
Composition of Concentration
The OverWorld is the only tribe that has practical discipline buffing mugic, and it is increased evermore with Composition of Concentration… phew what a long name. Anyhow this mugic is a more focused form of… song of focus. Instead of increasing all stats by a low amount, it increases one stat by a lot. Really useful when you need that extra 5 or 10 or… 30 points in any given stat to meet your challenge attacks, throw in the fact that its common only boosts its awesomeness.
Individual:- (individually mugic doesn’t do much… so mugic won’t have one of these)
Practicality: 7
Flexibility: 5
Defender’s song
Reinforcing the OW aspect of teamwork, Defender’s song does exactly what it sounds like, it bestows defender onto any creature for the entire turn. Think if you will an opponent is targeting one of your muges, throw defender’s song on one of your stronger creatures and cleverly cover your muge from direct assaults. Or if they happen to target one of your main creatures with one of your strongest creatures, you can throw defender on a wasted muge (a muge without any more mugic counters, and thus generally useless) and use it to “chump block” a potentially strong attack.
Individual:-
Practicality: 7.5
Flexibility: 6.5
Momental Virtuosity
Easily the strongest discipline buffing card, Momental Virtuosity increases two stats (on two different creatures if you wish) by 50, chuck this on a najarin and let him wreck havoc with sleepstings and skeletal strikes! A very strong mugic with the only downside costing 2 counters, but always useful when you need a lot of umph.
Individual:-
Practicality: 5.5
Flexibility: 7
Prelude of protection
This card provides a creature with all of the Xproofs allowing them to get a possibly 40 point energy increase. It sounds really nice but its somewhat too specialized as an opposing creature needs to have multiple elements to provide a significant buff, in the end it’ll only help against a heptadd otherwise I’d rather stock a song of resurgence or another healing mugic.
Individual:-
Practicality: 4
Flexibility: 5.5
Recurring Rescue
An interesting mugic card that heals really low amounts of damage but it can possibly be used multiple times. Recurring rescue is the best friend of muges which generally have low scanned energy and tons of mugic counters allowing them to shrug off damage with this mugic card. Also since it can be used over and over you need not to stock a second one which frees up your hand for other mugic cards. Generally a nice addition to the OW’s arsenal and it should allow muges to actually get attacked and not die within a few turns. However it must be used on a creature with low scanned energy, means that it isn’t as flexible in most scenarios.

Practicality: 7.5
Flexibility: 4
Mipedians
The amount of Mipedian cards were laughably low (only 9 cards total) but each one is significant and unique that they provide loads of new options for the Mipedian tribe. The Mipedian tribe develops a lot of new abilities that promote control aspects including the new invisibility: disarm and gear glissando which disallow the use of battlegear, Ribbian which seriously hampers creatures with recklessness, and Dibanni which can transfer his mugic counters to other creatures. With these new options the Mipedian tribe really begins to form its own individual niche compared to the other tribes.
Arkanin
A new Mipedian muge, Arkanin is a more offensively based muge, much like his Dawn of Perim brothers Tianne and Sobtejk. Instead of having the Mipedian’s notorious ability to blow themselves up, Arkanin has the ability to blow up other creatures or keep creatures from blowing up. A solid support creature with average stats (boasting pretty good wisdom with base 70) Arkanin provides a good amount of offensive and supportive abilities as well as the unique ability to channel the mugic counters of any and all allies and use it to their own means, meaning that you’ll have plenty of heals (which can free up your mugic hand).
Individual:5
Practicality: 8
Flexibility: 8.5
Dibanni
A creature I dub a “living battery” Dibanni is able to provide other creatures with his mugic counters, allowing normally mugicless creatures such as Dardemus a mugic counter (allowing for some surprises, I mean you’d never expect a Grook to launch a canon of Causality). Or you can buff another muges abilities, such as giving Tianne a 3rd counter so he can cast song of deflection or giving Ulmar more counters so he can deal more damage with his ability, or you can even throw some on Illexia as her mugic counters count as mandiblors. Very flexible and very useful, a nice addition to the Mipedians. Individual:3 Practicality: 8 Flexibility: 10Kolmo
One of the few Mipedians I was looking forward to, Kolmo does not disappoint, boasting VERY high energy (especially for a mipedian), fair stats across the board (most max at about 70), and a lot of super cool abilities. Even though he is described as Mipedian elite, Kolmo is a scout at heart with range and swift 1 built in, as well as the new invisibility: disarm, his other ability also helps in dispatching danian nobles which make up most of the strongest muges and leaders, lastly he has the air element to boot. Across the board Kolmo was a great addition to the Mipedian tribe, especially since he is one of the only non muge mipedians added.
Individual:9
Practicality: 7.5
Flexibility: 6
Munnari
Not much to say about this guy, ok stats with a specialization in wisdom as well as the air element and lastly invisibility:disarm. Its decent, especially for a common card, but hes overshadowed by Kolmo in almost every way.
Individual: 6
Practicality: 4
Flexibility: 7
Ribbian
Out of all the new Mipedian creatures, Ribbian must be the most useful one in my opinion simply for his freakishly awesome ability. Simply put Ribbian’s ability seriously hampers any creature with recklessness by increasing the damage to 10 and he doesn’t even have to be in the battle! By simply having one in your army, every bareth, magmon, rothar, or klasp will quickly be dispatched. He also has a mugic counter which is always useful, as well as invisibility: disarm and air 5 if he ever does get into a battle, making him the first Mipedian elementalists!
Individual:5
Practicality: 8
Flexibility: 10
Gear Glissando
All these battlegear altering cards from Zoth really make me happy… they just add a new element and option to the game, and a significant one at that. With Gear Glissando you can easily flip over one of your opponent’s battlegear to take away its effect or flip one of yours up so you can sac it. Gear Glissando is simple and sweet and one of my favorite Mugix from Zoth.

Practicality: 8
Flexibility: 8.5
Melodic might
An interesting card to add to the Mipedian mugic roster, I’m not quite sure about the possibilities of this card, though it should really help in theory to quickly shift though your attack deck for the cards you need, and it helps to remove all those clumsy 0 BP attacks when you don’t need them, but I just think that if it said “Target player draws two attack cards, then discards two” would make it better… anyhow its decent, and helps to promote the Mipedian’s “controlling the flow of the game” aspect.
Individual:-
Practicality: 7
Flexibility: 7.5
Song of Shelter
The first card that truly protects you against mugic, this card is AMAZING! On paper it sounds mediocre but if you consider the possibilities of this card… you’ll be amazed at the possibilities. Obviously it can block from direct damage to your creatures, but it also keeps your opponent from healing their creatures as well and it negates invisibility (presumably), damage abilities (such as ulmar’s), and anything else an opponent can throw at you (excluding attack cards of course). Defiantly one of the strongest defense cards to be released in Zoth.
Individual:-
Practicality: 8
Flexibility: 9.5
Switch riff
A rather funny card in my opinion, it allows you to switch one of your Mipedians (and only a Mipedian) with another one on the board that you control. A decent card in my opinion, its not breathtaking or amazing but its nice to have nonetheless. Switch riff is somewhat hampered in that you can only switch between unengaged creatures, that are mipedian, and under your control… considering its an uncommon, its not that bad.
Individual:-
Practicality: 3
Flexibility: 6.5

With Switch Riff i discovered that it works like a long range defender. pop it in before you engage and volia! Mipedian defender!
Switch Riff doesn’t work that way.
Yah it does, when you play master rules online when player A move Chaor a burst is started that is when you would switch the two currently unengagaed mipedians and Chaor would be forced into battle the one of your choice
Aaah…so this is where those cards are from…faced a player with Munnari and Kolmo…trashed him with regular OW deck…
Ok…i got Hammersmith Doomcaller in my Zenith pack yesterday…anyone wanna tell me how such a weak card is an Ultra Rare?
and if anyone is interested in trading online…? lol
Well Hammersmith is quite possibly the best creatures for taking down danians or UW if you happen to multi tribe Danian and UW, I assure you that that card can single handily take down most if not all of a danian army and a good chunk of an UW army.
I think you have song of shelter wrong. It doesnt stop me from healing my creatures it stops me from targeting yours. And i think invisibility would still work since invisisbility adds to the attack not damage going straight to the creature.
Wow…i noticed Hammerdoom Chantcaller (got the card’s name right this time) sells for 100 US$ on Ebay…wow…good thing i didn’t use the code…anyone interested lol?
You want an unstoppable combo? Garv + Supercharged Alterant, Garv in the back row with front row creatures with high energy or element and you can disregard most discipline stats since Alterant’ll take care of that, you can add a couple Gear Grind attack for flavour…
Doesn’t the Supercharged Alterant work only once it is flipped up? Technically, Gear Glissando can allow you to use it a second time, then Gear Grind…IMO, Supercharged Alterant is an insane battlegear for 1 vs 1 battles, and can be nice for 3 on 3…but when 6 on 6 comes out, it’ll take a lot of card space to build a strategy in which you can keep switching your battlegears face up and down. Besides, one Windslash from the other guy, and you lose your Alterant ability…Not that great a battlegear, again, IMO. I would rather go with a Riverland Star on Blugon or Rellim (or even Crawsectus, if i could get a hold of him) than the Alterant. On another note, I truly think 6 on 6 battles will bring an explosion of Danian decks…Hive finally becomes a considerable factor…
i think that dawn of perims the best…maxxor and heptadd
i have 2 of the big four right now…
Lucky maxxor is my fav and Heptadd is 3rd behind Iparu
i have heptadd and one of my friends wants heptadd, tartarek psi overloader, najarin, attacat just for 1 melvidine, maliph, marquis darini
dont trade It isnt worth it
Just nitpicking, but Song Of Shelter can’t stop your opponent from healing, it says creatures you control…:D
