Silent Sands introduced tons of new and powerful cards and mechanics. There’s the undeniably good cards like the mighty Blazvatan and the mysterious Iparu. But then there came those cards that just screamed “huh?”. Cards that are simply not put in to your deck and left to lie around in your crap piles of chaotic cards.
The first such card is Olkiex. I really dont like this card.
He looks like some kind of crazy Chewbacca. His stats are as follows.
Courage:40
Power:65
Wisdom:70
Speed:30
Energy:50
So he has alright stats. Along with that he has the water element, that and earth being the norm for OverWorld creatures. Unfortunately his effect, to me is horrible. When a creature you control gains a mugic counter, flip target battlegear face up or face down. I just see this effect being near useless. The cards that give mugic counters are scarce as it is. There’s mugicians lyre which is the go to choice for your mugicians battlegear, but in all honesty, if your mugician is fighting then there is something wrong anyway. Then there’s Gigantempopolis which is good but to place this card in the deck because you might get this location is just a waste. His uses are way too limited and all this is augumented by the fact that he’s a super rare, a rareity at could well have been given to a much more deserving card like Arbeid.
The next card i’ll be reviewing is Viqtarr.
This card is a super dud. His stats:
Courage:75
Power:45
Wisdom:75
Speed:35
Energy:40
This card’s effect is also pretty bad. The use’s are severly limited and in my opinion he helps out your opponent more then he does you. The first time your opponent attacks this creature, if his wisdom and courage beats both of your opponents’s then that attack deals zero. Now in alot of cases in your first attack hand you will get that useless zero attack card that wont help much in the battle. Viqtarr gives your opponent that chance to toss that card and prepare for a much stronger attack. Now this card has the elements of earth and water which is great but his low energy prevents him from doing much damage at all. A heavy hit from a Crawsectus or a well timed allmaghedon will topple this card and send it straight to the discard pile. The fact that it’s a strategist doesnt help much either since the game hasnt implemented very many mechanics based on the creatures “proffesion”.
The next and last card is Zapteur.
Another double element card having fire and earth. Must be Magmon’s dimwitted cousin or something. His stats are below.
Courage:55
Power:60
Wisdom:25
Speed:30
Energy:35
As you can see none of his stats are anything very special. And for an UnderWorlder thats surprising since they all have high power level’s. His energy is low which would merit him being put in the backrow, but then he has no mugic counters so he takes up a position beter used by a muge like Kopond or Ulmar. He has two effects. He can sacrifice a battle gear and deal 5 damge. And as low as that is you cant even pile it up because it’s limited to once per turn. Unless your fighting a genious like Viqtarr above this wouldnt even put a dent in most creatures. Not to mention the steep price. You could sacrifice a useless battlegear like supercharged alterant after it’s been used but there are very few one time use battle gear which makes giving one up difficult because you might need it. His next effect is his ability to sacrifice himself to destroy a battle gear. This is possibly even more of a steep price than sacrificing a battle gear. I dislike sacrificial effects because the game focuses around field control and creature placement. But there are those good sacrificial effects like Tianne which can give you that last stretch to destroy your opponents Maxxor or Vanbloot, while this one is just horrible.
Perhaps the saddest thing about these cards are their rareity. There all rare and above. This multiplies the dissapointment when you open the pack. With Olkiex, it’s not so bad, super’s are super’s but the fact that you didnt catch a super or an ultra is augumented by the fact that you caught one of these two knuckleheads. And i had the pleasure of catching both. Thanks for readin, look forward to my future articles but until then stay chaotic.

Good review my fellow writer, however I disagree about Olkiex and Zapteur. There are several Battlegear themed armies that Oliex is essential in, and Zapteur is just as good at destroying those very armies. Since many Underworld creatures are already amazing by themselves, sacrificing Battlegear to weaken your opponent is an amazing ability.
I disagree with your opion on viqtarr, i find him a most vauluable asset to any earth/water battle team.
But i supose this is what Pocketkoi wanted when he chose us as his new authors; Varying opinions. None the less a nice post!
No, Zapteur is probolbly the worst underworlder I have
ever seen. His abilities, stats, elements, mujic, and rarity
all STINK. However,Obliex is usefull sometimes because of
his good energy, wisdom, and the water element.
Viqiquar is just okay
thanks for the feedback guy’s i appreciate your honesty.
Two Kalts can swap Mugicians every turn. This will let you use olkiex’s ability twice every combat. You can turn only on flip-up battlegear like Supercharged alterant face down again, or better yet, just turn your opponent’s Creature’s Battlegear face down every combat.
Hi!
Sorry for the question, but I’m struggling to figure this out.
Does Whepcrack Battlegear give Van Bloot the ability to use all Fire attacks since it gives “Fire 5″?
No it does not. Fire5 means that a fire card’s damage is increased by five, not that you deal fire damage. I.e. if Bloot used steam rage with a whepcrack, it would end up dealing 5 damage total (0 base, 0 fire, 0 water, 5 from his fire5).
Hope that helped
I have to disagree about Viqtarr as well. I use Mipedians, courage and wisdom often lacking, and Viqtarr neutralizes my invisibility attacks. But like you said, I can counter it using a Muge’s Edge, or any attack card that boosts me, or is useless.
Nice review, but there are a lot more cards i find completely useless :) Disciplinarians without a stat over 50…there are some lol.
I rather like Viqtarr. i use him on my front line in my newest deck. but mu courage and wisdom stats are closer too the one hundred, like 805 and 95. my other stats are higher too. but my health is lower.
i think that this is a terrible set of underworld cards, in sulent sands that is.
viqtuar is awesome i hav 1 and he owns
SuperSonic has a good point!
